Rules of Participation

  1. Pick a concept that you want to spend the Slam developing: a set of characters, a world, a story; if you would prefer to bone up on some basic art and design skills, pick an area you want to work on like anatomy, colour theory, experimenting with style, etc. (You can always mix basic art skills practice with a concept such as developing characters for a graphic novel!)

  2. Pick a difficulty setting:

    • Easy: Spend one month on one concept, creating 30 to 31 images.

    • Medium: Spend two months on one concept, creating 61 to 62 images.

    • Hard: Spend three months on one concept, creating 92 images.

    • You may mix and match your settings from month to month, depending on if you'd like to change concepts, or would like to increase or decrease the difficulty of your challenge.

  3. Start drawing! Your images should be at least readable sketches. If you want to spend more than one day on an image, take clear progress shots that show definite change from one to the next. You may use traditional or digital visual media, but writing and music are not elligible. Photographs may qualify, but must be used in conjunction with other artistic media (such as in a collage) to count for the Slam.

  4. Put your images behind a cut!

    • You may include a teaser image outside the cut, but please keep them reasonably sized.

    • See this tutorial on how to use cuts and tags if you're still confused!

  5. Tag your entry with your username. Your username will be added by mods; if it isn't working, toss us a note to let us know! Please only use your username in the tag section.

  6. Interact with the rest of the community! Comment on posts, leave constructive criticism when you can, foster encouragement and help newbies when needed.

  7. Earn trophies: Check out the Trophy List and Trophy Quest pages for more info

Rules on General Issues

  1. Don't grief, harass, or otherwise cause trouble for other members of the community. If you're reported, you will be warned, and then banned. Constructive criticism is not the same as griefing. Please refer to the Participation section of the FAQ for more info.

  2. If you are having any technical issues or difficulties in general, send a note to your mod or the community account. We'll fix what we can as fast as possible!
